Code of Conduct
Elements Co-op strives to create a safe, nurturing and supportive environment for all our children, teens and families. Members of Elements Co-op agree to adhere to our Code of Conduct as follows:
Parent Communication
Members of Elements Co-op will be invited to join the co-op's private Facebook group. This page is to be used to plan official co-op activities and discuss important information. As it is our primary way of communicating, members are encouraged to check the page before each meeting so as to not miss any timely announcements. This page can also be used for:
Active Participation
If you are unable to fulfill the minimum requirements of "Active Participation" you will be asked to leave the group and removed from the Facebook page. Minimum requirements:
Expectations of Behavior
Members of Elements Co-op will be invited to join the co-op's private Facebook group. This page is to be used to plan official co-op activities and discuss important information. As it is our primary way of communicating, members are encouraged to check the page before each meeting so as to not miss any timely announcements. This page can also be used for:
- general homeschool/educational related discussions
- to invite members to participate in personal outings and field trips, so long as those activities do not conflict with any official co-op events
- to offer curriculum items for sale or exchange. No other business postings or solicitations are allowed.
Active Participation
If you are unable to fulfill the minimum requirements of "Active Participation" you will be asked to leave the group and removed from the Facebook page. Minimum requirements:
- Co-op members are expected to attend the weekly meetings.
- Parents are expected to attend all meetings with their child(ren).
- Parents are expected to participate, organize and plan activities based on their interests and talents.
Expectations of Behavior
- Children and teens are expected to be kind and courteous to all members of the co-op.
- Aggressive behavior is not permitted. This includes, but is not limited to: roughhousing, biting, punching, kicking, spitting and name-calling.
- As guests at other members' homes and on field trips, children and teens are expected to use care with all belongings and property.
- Adults who are leading group activities have the authority to verbally correct a child engaging in disruptive or inappropriate behavior. If the child does not respond to verbal correction and the behavior persists, he or she will be removed from the group and taken to his or her parent. It is expected that the parent of a child who exhibits inappropriate behavior (as listed above) act proactively to redirect their child to more acceptable behavior. If the parent is unwilling or unable to correct their child’s on-going inappropriate behavior, the parent may be asked to directly supervise their child during all activities or step down from co-op participation.
